Q: You mentioned that some of the poems in Color My Soul was derived  from earlier writings. Do you see a correlation between the past and present?
A: Even more so — people are stressed and pushing their limits. Leisure is a phantom and the world is in crises. The turmoil we battle can be found within us. For some suicide appears to be the only option.

Q: How has life changed over the years for you?
A: There was once a time, when people had respect for one another, tended their affairs, encouraged free thinking and respected diversity, the sole foundation of America. Unfortunately, this is no longer true. The world is vain and in serious disarray. The pressures today too succeeded at any and all cost forces many of our youth into the throws of sex, drugs, and suicide. People are out for what
they can get and the thought police are permanently on guard, while schools teach conformity and strict regurgitation. The diversity that made America grand is gradually dissipating.

Q: How much of your book is based on truth?
A: My book mulls over issues that affect most people in their everyday lives, such as faith, love, identity and suicide. I’ve been fortunate enough to meet a myriad of individuals that have survived tremendous turmoil in their lives. People are complex, complicated creatures that project a facade to shield themselves though the hurt and pain rage on deep within.

Q: Do you relate to the poems you write?
A: Yes. I’m not immune. I have suffered similar anxieties through the years. I’ve endured
my share of trails and tribulations. That’s why I feel the need to convey these messages via poetry. To show there is a light at the end of the tunnel and a rainbow of promise.

Q: What has been the public reaction?
A: I have had numerous poems published throughout the years. For the most part they all have been well received. Several positive correspondences have originated from  readers. Very seldom have I experienced a hostile letter.

Q: Why did you elect to write poetry over other genres?
A: Poetry is a venue that has aided the masses for centuries. Sometimes the material may be light-hearted, serious, gravely dark or completely abstract. Nonetheless, poetry has an innate ability to relax the reader offering them an opportunity to reflect and contemplate.
Each poem is like a micro short story.
I write in other genres too. Currently, I have a children s’ book and a novel in progress.

Q: You be donating a portion of your royalties from this book to charity, correct?
A: Definitely. I believe you should donate 10% of whatever you earn to a charity important to you. Giving is good karma.

Q: Has your writing changed someone’s life?
A: Yes, I’ve been told that by some readers. I realize my work is not going to radically alter the world. But, if it helps one person feel better about their selves knowing they are not alone in this gigantic universe. I’ve performed my task.
